OSTEOPOROSIS AWARENESS PROJECT
This is a message from Dr. Hina Rizvi from UT Southwestern and Parkland
hospital.
Are you a woman 40 years or above? You may be at risk of developing a
bone disease called Osteoporosis.
We have noticed that our Desi women are not as aware of osteoporosis as
American women are and that's the reason why our desi women have a lot
of bone and back pain issues which they think is normal aging. In
reality that is not true.
Osteoporosis is all about knowledge and awareness. If you have the
knowledge you can prevent it from occurring and if you already have it,
you can prevent it from getting worse. If left untreated, osteoporosis
can progress painlessly until a bone breaks.
Dr HINA RIZVI from the MOMIN Center is conducting a study on the
awareness and risks for Osteoporosis among Southeast Asian women.
Interested participants will be asked to complete a simple survey which
will qualify them to attend an educational seminar regarding
osteoporosis which will be conducted in the Momin center.
Any female from Momin center 40 yrs old or above can participate.
